Short summary

Trees For Me develop competence focused on fast-growing broadleaf trees for sustainable forestry, materials and energy in Sweden.

Trees For Me is an interdisciplinary centre of excellence which conducts cutting-edge research and collaboration related to fast-growing broadleaf trees, for the whole value chain from seeds to sustainable high-value material and energy products.

The research is conducted within the following areas:

  • Tree breeding
  • Silviculture
  • Material and energy
  • Societal transitions
  • Environmental impacts

The centre educates future leaders who will be able to actively contribute to the development of the forest and energy sector and to reach energy and climate goals.

Trees For Me also brings together research expertise with relevant societal actors, government organisations and industrial partners who will implement the research results in practice. We conduct educational activities, seminars and excursions to increase the knowledge of sustainable biomass production and material use from fast-growing broadleaf trees.

Trees For Me is financed by the Swedish Energy Agency and almost 50 societal actors, ranging from academia and companies to interest organisations.

The centre is coordinated from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Alnarp, Skåne.
