Experimental forests
SLU manages 8 experimental forests spread over the country, and provides locations and staff for establishing and managing forest trials. This is available to researchers at both SLU and other Universities.
An experimental forest is a designated land area set aside specifically for research in field trials, sampling, or long-term monitoring, such as of a watershed.
The staff at the research stations administer the experimental forests and carry out measures, surveys, and maintain field trials across the country.
At several of the experimental forests, staff are stationed year-round. Additionally, each experimental forest has a scientific advisor. Extensive excursion activities are carried out with both Swedish and international groups as visitors.
