Apply for ship time through SWERVE – the 2026 call is now open
Researchers can now apply for funded ship time through SWERVE – the infrastructure initiative that strengthens Swedish marine science. Several vessels are included, including R/V Svea. The call is open until 11 August 2025.
Conducting research at sea requires advanced infrastructure. For many research projects, ship time is a major expense – which means important ideas may never come to life. That’s why SWERVE exists: a national initiative funded by the Swedish Research Council that provides researchers with access to vessels, equipment, technical expertise, and data.
R/V Svea is one of the resources available through SWERVE. By coordinating and pooling Sweden’s research vessel capacity, SWERVE enables more efficient use of the infrastructure – and makes it accessible to more users.

Full information about the application process and answers to frequently asked questions are available on the Swerve website.
Application deadline: 11 August 2025
