Scheduled teaching should not be placed on the following days:
- September 1, 2025 (Applies to year 1 on all programmes. For all other years, no compulsory components should be scheduled.)
- Thursday afternoon, 16 October 16 and Friday, 17 October 17 2025 (for the Forest Student Summit)
- 31 October 2025 (the day before All Saints’ Day)
- 23–31 December 2025
- 39 April 2026 (Walpurgis Night)
- 15 May 2026 (the day after Ascension Day)
As a rule, no classes should be scheduled for Wednesday afternoons in order to facilitate the planning of joint activities. A special permission from the programme director of studies is required.
In principle, no classes should be scheduled on Wednesday afternoons, 13:00–17:00, to allow for e.g. board meetings, student information, teachers’ meetings and student union work. Exceptions may be granted by the programme board in question. See also the Education Planning and Administration handbook, Section 2.4. No classes during bank holidays.

Special activities
In addition to the Forest Student Summit, which means no scheduled classes from Thursday afternoon, 8 October to Friday, 9 October 2026, the following activities will also take place and may be useful to keep in mind when scheduling.
Gymnasiedag (high school visit day)
In Umeå, a high school visit day will be held on 25 September for invited students who will visit the Skogis building to learn more about SLU and the faculty’s degree programmes. The event will require the use of certain facilities, as well as staff and students.

Special activities

Health on Campus
The faculty has entered into an agreement with Umeå University to participate in Health on Campus during 2026, following a request from the student union (SHS). Helath on Campus takes place on Wednesdays during weeks 8 and 38 each year. No decision has yet been made regarding any continuation from 2027 onward. In autumn 2026, Health on Campus will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2026.
Graduation Cermonies
At the end of May/beginning of June, graduation ceremonies for forestry students are held at all four campus locations. The Forest Management programme traditionally holds its ceremony on the last Friday of the semester. The dates for the other locations/programmes have not yet been decided.
