Who Can Apply For the Courses?
FFB courses are open to:
- Doctoral students enrolled at SLU in relevant disciplines (food science, biology, chemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, biomaterials, and related fields)
- Doctoral students from other Swedish or international universities, subject to course-specific admission criteria
- Postdoctoral researchers wishing to broaden their expertise
Some courses may have specific prerequisites. These are stated clearly in each course description. When in doubt, contact the course coordinator before applying.
How to Join a Course
Each course has its own registration link, listed in the course description on the Courses page. To register:
- Click the registration link for the relevant course
- Complete the online registration form
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your application has been reviewed
Priority is given to doctoral students at SLU, but places are offered to external applicants where capacity permits.
Credit System
All FFB courses carry ECTS credits (referred to as hp — högskolepoäng — in the Swedish system). Credits are awarded upon successful completion of all compulsory course elements, including examination or assessment as specified in the course syllabus. One ECTS credit corresponds to approximately 25–30 hours of student work.
Credits earned through FFB courses can typically be included in a doctoral student's individual study plan (ISP). Students should confirm transferability with their supervisor and director of doctoral studies at their home institution.
