What do you do for a living?

I work as a communicator at the communication agency Azote, which works creatively and strategically with environmental and science communication.

What does that involve?

My days are very varied. Some days, I work on large projects involving business and universities. Other days, I try to understand complex biochemical processes in order to formulate what an illustration could look like. I also attend networking events with our business customers. As I am responsible for some of our events, such as the Researchers’ Breakfast, I find and contact researchers to participate.

How did you end up there?

When I was a student on the ECM programme, we visited Azote to explore potential career paths. During that visit, Robert, one of the founders, put into words exactly what I hadn’t been able to express before – how we can package environmental science so that different audiences engage with it. I asked for an internship, and here I am.

Do you have any advice for those considering studying at SLU?

I really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings at SLU Ultuna, where I studied. It gave me so much energy and inspiration during beautiful lunch walks and discussions on interesting subjects with my peers. Being on campus is an experience in itself!

Which part of your job would you miss the most if you quit tomorrow?

If I were to change workplaces, I would miss the creative discussions the most. As a creative agency with a wide range of graphical designers, copywriters, communicators, and former researchers, we foster a dynamic and communicative environment. Being part of a place where knowledge is shared both creatively and strategically is very exciting.
