Monitoring the development of the wolf population is an important part of the research. The wolf population is monitored in terms of numbers and geographical distribution by the County Boards, with ongoing research regarding the effects of factors involved in determining these values. Knowledge of mortality and reproduction as well as immigration are important for population management and conservation.
