At the Department of Energy and Technology research is primarily conducted on how agriculture and forestry can contribute to a sustainable society. The researchers are investigating how agriculture can produce food and energy efficiently, with minimal environmental impact, and how transport of animals and food can be improved.

To develop, apply and communicate methods within GIS, to model and analyze biological and technical processes and systems, as well as classical statistical research is found in the field of Biometry.

The research related to low- and middle-income countries means that researchers are studying techniques and systems for efficient and safe production of and logistics for food. Furthermore, safe and efficient utilization of resources in wastewater and waste adapted for developing and middle-income countries is being studied. And research in Automation.
