Anders Broberg
Jag är professor i naturproduktskemi vid institutionen för molekylära vetenskaper och forskar och undervisar om naturprodukternas kemi. Mitt viktigaste forskningsprojekt idag är ett projekt där vi letar nya antibiotika i svamp- och bakteriekulturer.

Undervisning

Jag undervisar framför allt på institutionens kurs i naturproduktskemi (Ke0057, 10 hp), men under senare år även en del på grundkursen i kemi. Kursen i naturproduktskemi har som mål att presentera de olika typerna av naturprodukterna, inklusive strukturer, biosyntes, egenskaper, förekomst, och metoder lämpliga för analys och isolering. 2013 tilldelades jag Ultuna studentkårs pedagogiska pris för mitt arbete med denna kurs.

Forskning

Många organismer producerar s.k.. sekundärmetaboliter som används vid interaktioner med andra organismer. Exempelvis producerar många växter substanser som gör dem osmakliga eller giftiga för växtätare, och många bakterier och svampar producerar substanser av antibiotikatyp som gör livet surt för konkurrerande mikroorganismer. Min forskning är inriktad på sekundärmetaboliter från framför allt mikroorganismer, och exempel på forskningsfrågor är:

  • Går det att hitta nya sekundärmetaboliter från svampar och bakterier som kan utvecklas till nya antibiotika?
  • Hur sker biosyntesen av en viss sekundärmetabolit, dvs. vilka biosyntesvägar är inblandade?
  • Vilken ekologisk roll har en viss sekundärmetabolit, t.ex. behöver en viss rotrötesvamp producera en viss sekundärmetabolit för att kunna infektera sitt värdträd?
