Academic ceremonies

By upholding the traditional academic ceremonies, we create a sense of continuity and community within the university. At the same time, through these ceremonies we highlight the continual renewal of knowledge represented by the new doctors and new professors who are awarded their honours each year.

Medals and awards

In conjunction with the doctoral award ceremony, the SLU Medals for Distinguished Service, the Educational Awards and the Arvid Lindman medal are conferred.

    Lectures by SLU:s new professors

    In 2026 SLU welcomes 11 new professors. The ceremony on Friday 24 April is proceeded by two days of lectures by the professors. Join us in Ultuna studio or online!

    11 new professors from Alnarp, Umeå and Uppsala will be inaugurated in 2026. Audience attending the ceremony at the Assembly hall in the Teaching Building are to be seated at 16:45.
