Are Swedish cows cool enough?
Heat stress in dairy cows affects health, fertility and production – as shown in studies from warmer countries. But we lack knowledge from countries with a temperate climate and there’s need for support and guidance about decisions on, and use of, different types of cooling in Swedish conditions. -
Better compliance and health with low stress handling of dogs
This research project focuses on investigating low-stress handling of dogs, with the goal of developing training guides and tools for animal health professionals and dog owners. -
Can a low input system be part of the solution for future milk production?
The project investigates how milk production with low and high input of external inputs affects animal health, animal welfare, profitability and environment in Swedish herds, and identify the barriers and drivers that dairy farmers experience regarding the use of self-produced and purchased inputs. -
Socially sustainable calf performance for better animal welfare – how does technology contribute?
Projects aim to understand how technology (especially automatic milk feeding) can improve social sustainability and work engagement in calf care and increase the conditions for calves to receive a biologically normal milk yield.
