Marine fish – FD2
The database FD2 contains quality-assured catch data and individual data on fish and shellfish. FD2 is not an open database. Data from our international surveys are further reported internationally and are available in the ICES database DATRAS.
FD2 is the national platform for managing data collected under the national data collection framework (DCF).
Accessibility
FD2 is not an open database. Data from our international surveys are further reported internationally and are available in the ICES database called DATRAS. We are working to improve the accessibility of data for all users. Contact us if you have any questions.
What data is included in FD2?
Biological parameters such as weight, length, age, sex, and sexual maturity are collected on fish and shellfish and recorded in the database, as well as information on catch composition.
The majority of the data in the database comes from collections within our larger environmental monitoring programs for fish and shellfish, but we are also working to include data from smaller projects in the database.
International data reporting
Most of the data in FD2 is collected under the EU's data collection framework (DCF), which also governs the requirements for data registration, storage, and quality assurance at the national level. There are also requirements for the data to be sent to international databases in a specific format for use within the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea's (ICES) various working groups and for coordinating data collection at the regional level.
Sweden is involved in the coordination efforts related to the Baltic Sea and North Sea (Skagerrak, Kattegat). FD2 is the national platform for managing the data collected under the EU regulation and requires good and secure management, as well as ongoing development to meet new requirements set by the EU and ICES.
Funding
Data collection within the DCF (Data Collection Framework) is financed 60 % by funds from the European Maritime, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
