Laboratory for environmental analysis

We analyse water chemistry, biology, and organic environmental chemistry (including plant protection products). We have extensive experience in accredited and quality-assured analyses within environmental monitoring. We have been accredited by SWEDAC since the early 1990s.

  • The department also operates additional laboratories dedicated to research.

Geochemical laboratory

We analyze around 40 different parameters in freshwater. Our modern and efficient laboratory is staffed by experienced personnel with extensive expertise in water analysis.

Biodiversity laboratory

We analyse aquatic organisms concerning species composition and biomass. We have a high level of taxonomic expertise and extensive experience in environmental monitoring of lakes and watercourses.

Organic environmental chemistry (OMK) laboratory

We work with methods and analyses of organic environmental pollutants, primarily pesticide residues. We have extensive experience in analyzing pesticide residues at low concentrations in complex matrices.

Quality assurance

The department maintains a rigorous quality assurance system to ensure the reliability and accuracy of its environmental analyses. The laboratories follow established protocols and are accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 standards. Continuous quality control, staff training, and method validation are central to their operations, supporting long-term environmental monitoring and research (only available in Swedish).

Sampling methods

The department uses standardised, quality-controlled sampling methods to ensure reliable data collection in environmental monitoring of freshwater ecosystems. These methods support long-term assessments of water quality, biodiversity, and pollutant levels (only available in Swedish).
