Cattle barn plan
Cattle barn plan is an online tool for those planning barns for beef cattle. Here you will find information on how different types of beef barns should function and be planned. Are you considering a building for suckler cows or young cattle? What different housing systems are available? How should you plan for handling feed and bedding?
Under the tab "Start here" you will find information on, among other things, laws and regulations, planning principles and the construction process. Important pieces of the puzzle for the planning process to lead to a rational building. Under the tab "Prerequisites" you will find information on, among other things, farm planning, production systems, feeding strategies and barn climate. "Barn systems" describes different types of housing systems and handling systems.
Examples of different floor plans for suckler cows and young cattle can be found under the tab "Floor plans" where you can also see suggestions for how, for example, a calving box or a handling system can be designed. Under the “Buildings” tab you will find information about different building systems and installations. The “Dimensions” tab provides measurement recommendations for bedding and walkways, for example; minimum measurements according to the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s regulations; and calculated measurements based on the animals’ body measurements. Under the “Basics” tab you will find more basic information about, for example, the animals and the work environment, as well as reading tips for those who want to delve deeper into areas covered on the website.
