Reducing Livestock Methane Emissions Through Feed Innovation

Are you interested in ruminant nutrition and sustainable livestock production? We are looking for a motivated MSc student to join an SLU research project exploring feed additive strategies to reduce methane emissions and improve carbon efficiency.

An international research experience

As part of the thesis project, you will have the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands and conduct part of the work at Trouw Nutrition's research facilities.

Travel and accommodation support will be provided for the research stay in the Netherlands.

What will you do?

The MSc thesis will combine scientific literature work, hands-on experimental experience and data analysis. Activities will include:

  • Conducting a literature review on feed additives, methane mitigation, and ruminant nutrition
  • Travelling to the Netherlands for an experimental research period at Trouw Nutrition
  • Participating in an animal feeding trial
  • Assisting with sampling and experimental procedures
  • Processing and organising experimental data
  • Performing statistical analysis and interpretation of results
  • Evaluating nutritional strategies to reduce methane emissions and improve carbon efficiency in ruminants
