Research

The Department of Plant Biology at SLU is at the forefront of innovative research on plants and their interactions with the environment. Our work bridges fundamental science and practical applications, with the aim of advancing sustainable agriculture and forestry in a rapidly changing world.

  • We address these challenges across six key areas: Genetics, Molecular Cell Biology, Molecular Plant-Pest/Disease Interactions, Plant Genomics and Breeding, Plant Physiology, and Plant Virology.
  • The department is home to 18 research groups and more than 70 researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students.
  • We benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation including molecular biology laboratories, an advanced microscopy platform, and plant growth facilities.
