Environmental monitoring and assessment

The Department of Ecology studies habitats, biodiversity, and landscape variation in agricultural areas and open wetlands. At the SLU Grimsö Wildlife Research Station, we monitor wildlife. We are also responsible for the long-term monitoring of spruce bark beetles.

Biotope monitoring

Biotope monitoring can enhance our understanding of ecological processes, as well as the effects of land use and various environmental factors on natural values, species, and ecosystem services.

Spruce bark beetles

Wildlife monitoring

The wildlife monitoring data from the Grimsö Research Station are used to evaluate census methods and to track species’ population dynamics.
