We enable research in forest environments by providing access to experimental plots, field data, and practical support. With us, researchers are given the conditions to carry out both short-term studies and long-term projects, regardless of scientific focus.

Research Projects

At the Unit for Forest Field Research, we create the conditions necessary for conducting research in forest environments—regardless of scientific discipline. Our mission is to provide a well-functioning infrastructure for field-based research, where scientists can collect data, work with both long- and short-term experiments, and make use of previously collected data series.

We manage a wide range of sites across the country, many of which have ongoing data collection dating back several decades. This makes it possible to investigate long-term changes and patterns, which is crucial for understanding processes that unfold over time. In addition to field data, climate and environmental data from our research stations are also available, further enhancing analytical opportunities.

A key part of our work is providing practical support. This may involve assistance in planning and establishing new experiments, collecting and quality-assuring data, or navigating existing data systems. We also help with the logistical coordination of research projects, including accommodation, travel, transportation, and access to equipment. For those who need a more stationary setup, we offer access to laboratories and meeting facilities.

Our goal is to make it as smooth as possible to conduct field research in forest environments. That means being flexible and solution-oriented in our role—whether the need is for a short-term study or a long-term research program. We act as a bridge between practical conditions and scientific needs.

By combining field presence, long-standing experience, and a systematic approach, we aim to enable more researchers to carry out studies in forest environments—regardless of the research question. You're welcome to contact us to discuss ideas, needs, and opportunities.

Researchers and active projects at the unit are registered and documented through our platform Safedeposit.
