Education in Forest Planning

Page reviewed:  09/06/2025

Forest planning is a distinctly synthesis subject, and our courses connects different concepts and ideas about forests.

The courses are primarily designed for students in the Forestry Program, but are also open to interested students in the Forest Management Program. Students from other programs with sufficient prior knowledge are also welcome to take the courses.

At the undergraduate level, we offer the courses Forest Planning and Planning and Analysis of Forest Ecosystem Services. Each year, we also offer our stand-alone-course Planning and Analysis with Heureka – a forest decision support system that is entirely online. Our courses can be applied for via SLU:s course search page.

Additionally, we offer PhD courses, which are announced through Silva - the doctoral school of the Faculty of Forest Sciences.

We are happy to supervise theses, and you are welcome to contact us if you are interested in writing a thesis in Forest Planning.

For companies and authorities interested in learning more about the Heureka decision support system, the Forest Sustainability Analysis program can also offer customized training tailored to the needs of the organisation.
