SLU love to share more about what it is like to study and conduct research with us. We therefore invite upper-secondary students and their teachers to attend this inspiration day, which we hope will spark their curiosity.

Skogsdagen (The Forest Day) 2026

On Friday, September 25, 2026, we will once again open the doors to the SLU building and welcome 150 upper-secondary students and their teachers for a packed day featuring everything from guided tours of the "Forest of the Future" to interviews with forestry alumni. This marks the fourth consecutive year we are hosting this popular inspirational event, and our ambitions are higher than ever! We are doing our utmost to deliver a program that is as interesting, interactive, and inspiring as possible.

As always, the day begins with a drop-in breakfast and a joint session in the auditorium, after which students are divided into groups to attend four different program activities throughout the day. This year also features a mini-fair, including an exciting "Jungle Room" and an "Innovation Room."

New this year: we are prioritizing students in their second year of upper-secondary school (gymnasium) and above, to ensure everyone gets the best possible experience from the day. We hope for your understanding.

Programme

Running from 09:00 to 15:15. Students are divided into four groups that take turns attending the various sessions listed below throughout the day.

Session 1: JOINT SESSION – What is it like to study and work in the forestry sector?

Session 2: SEEDLINGS – Learn about seedling research and calculate a spruce seedling's potential to grow big and strong!

Session 3: OUTDOORS – "The Forest of the Future?" + "Water & Forest"

Session 4: TECHNOLOGY – What do lasers, 3D technology, and drones have to do with forestry?

Session 5: FISH – What happens beneath the surface? Fish and cutting-edge fisheries research

Between 12:45–13:35 and 14:30–15:15, students have the opportunity to visit our mini-fair, featuring:

  1. The Jungle Room – meet SLU researchers working on the rainforest restoration project in Borneo, a collaboration between SLU and IKEA.
  2. The Innovation Room – SLU Holding offers a smorgasbord of activities, including the chance for students to pitch innovative ideas to a jury.
  3. The Forest Box and Circular Lego Corner – learn more about forest products and circularity.
  4. The opportunity to talk to forestry students from SLU.
