Drinking water and health

We consume an average of two liters of drinking water per day. But how healthy is your drinking water? SLU produces knowledge for decision makers and the water industry to support the work with safer drinking water.

Policy brief

Contaminants of Emerging Concern

The amount of chemicals used in our daily life has increased tremendously over the last decades and new chemical substances are regularly put on the market. During or after their use, these compounds find their way into our water bodies and into our environment.

A Non-Toxic Environment programme

We provide decision support and expertise in the work towards a non-toxic environment in Sweden. The data from our monitoring programmes contributes to the overall picture of the environmental status regarding hazardous substances.

Department of Aquatic Resources

Our research focuses on fish and shellfish in the seas, lakes and rivers. We monitor the aquatic environment, developing the methods and know-how for sustainable use of aquatic resources.

SLU Water Forum

Water is essential to life. At SLU more than 400 researchers and experts work with water-related issues, from source to sea. Our knowledge contributes to achieving the global sustainable development goals focusing on water quality, life in water and the human use of water resources.

SLU Water Hub

We are working with catchment scale modelling and assessment of water quality. The focus is on developing, managing and applying models for calculation of leaching, transport, retention, and source apportionment of nitrogen and phosphorus.
