Change project: Food governance

The change project connected to the hub in Kenya aims to build on the successes of three AgriFoSe2030 sub-projects—focusing on food system governance, extension services, and rangeland management—by reinforcing the essential link between research, policy, and practice. They recognise that sustainable food systems require a supportive policy environment, effective extension structures, and a responsive research ecosystem.

Interview with Cecilia Onyango, hub leader in Kenya

AgriFoSe2030 consists of three hubs in sub-Saharan Africa and one network in Southeast Asia. To learn more about the hubs and their specific change projects, we asked the hub-leaders a few questions about their work. Professor Cecilia Onyango tell us more about the project Sustainable and resilient food systems for improved food security in Kenya.

Samuel Omondi about the project

Kenya is experiencing a rapid rise in population. This exerts immense pressure on agriculture and the environment and subsequently to the food system to continue providing food and raw materials to the increased population. This project aims to enhancing governance of food and extension systems for improved agricultural resilience and ecosystem sustainability.
