Bioenergy is the world's and Sweden's largest renewable energy source. Approximately a quarter of the energy supply in Sweden comes from biofuels.
At the department, we research how biomass from the agricultural and forestry sectors can be used for the production of electricity, heat and fuel, as well as its use in agriculture and other parts of society. An important part of our research is assessment of climate effects and assessment on how bioenergy systems can act as carbon sinks.
