Short summary

The purpose with this project is to investigate the role of bank erosion in transport of phosphorus (P) in relation to other sources. The aim is to determine P availability in areas connected to erosion, to understand the contribution to eutrophication of downstream watercourses.

Bank erosion in streams has been shown to have a large impact on particle and phosphorus transport in other countries, e.g. Denmark and the United Kingdom. In Swedish context, this is relatively unresearched. This project aims to increase the understand for this and thus understand the role of this P and its contribution to downstream eutrophication.

The project consists of GIS analyses to determine erosionrisk in the stream together with sampling of streambank, suspended sediment and bed sediment with following labanalysis of particle size distribution, P content, Al and Fe content and P fractionation.
