Short summary

How is marine life affected when coastal waters become both browner and warmer?

The overall aim is of this project is to quantify the extent and combined effects of warming and darkening waters on coastal ecosystem functioning and services as basis for ecosystem-based management, taking coastal-terrestrial linkages into account.

Combining experiments with theoretical food web models informed by in-field measurements, we will contribute to the assessment of coastal ecosystems by generating unique data sets allowing us for the first time to link both warming and coloured carbon spreading across coastal waters to carbon budgets, fish biomass production and recreational value.
