Chartering R/V Svea
Welcome aboard Svea – a flexible, fully equipped platform for biological, oceanographic, and geological surveys. Together, we tailor your expedition to match your specific needs.
R/V Svea is one of Sweden’s most advanced research vessels, built to meet the high demands of environmental monitoring as well as national and international research. The vessel is also available for commercial missions. On board, you’ll find modern laboratories, advanced equipment, and an experienced crew who know what it takes to make your expedition a success.
Whether you're mapping marine ecosystems, collecting samples at sea, or testing new technology in open waters, Svea is ready for the task. We offer tailor-made solutions to help you make the most of your time at sea.
Planning and availability 2025
Svea is nearly fully booked for 2025, with 324 planned days at sea, including 246 expedition days. However, there are still a few openings available for new bookings. Another option is to join an already scheduled expedition, subject to approval by the expedition leader.
You can find the current schedule on Marine Facilities Planning. Please note that all dates are preliminary and subject to change.
Pricing 2025
R/V Svea is primarily designed for use in Swedish environmental monitoring, as well as national and international research. These types of expeditions are therefore given priority in our planning. We offer transparent pricing tailored for both research institutions and commercial clients:
- Public authorities (research, education, environmental monitoring): SEK 115,000 per day*
- Commercial missions: SEK 330,000 per day*
* The cost of diesel (HVO) is currently estimated at SEK 16 per litre, including urea. Clients will be invoiced based on the actual price and consumption during the expedition, including transit from Lysekil or the most recent port, unless otherwise agreed.
In addition to the base rental fee, additional costs may apply for:
- Extra crew (SEK 5,000 per person per day)
- Special equipment (according to quotation)
- Meals and accommodation on board (SEK 840 per person per day for a single cabin, SEK 600 per person per day for a double cabin)
Please note that the rental fee is based on the number of days the vessel is booked. If there are significant changes in overall utilisation, the fee may be reduced during the current year.
