Marintekniker stärker samarbetet inom SWERVE
Marine technicians from eight organisations recently gathered for a workshop on Sea-Bird's oceanographic measurement systems. The workshop was organised as part of SWERVE, within which SLU's Ship Management unit leads a national network for marine technicians.
"The past few days have clearly demonstrated how important it is for marine technicians to have opportunities to meet, exchange knowledge and learn from one another," says Björn Lindell, ship coordinator at the Ship Management Unit and leader of the National Marine Technicians Network (NMTN) within SWERVE.
Sea-Bird Scientific´s CTD systems (Conductivity, Temperature and Depth) are used on most Swedish research vessels to measure, among other things, salinity, temperature and depth.
The workshop, held at the Kristineberg Centre for Marine Research and Innovation, was the fifth in the SWERVE workshop series. The series will continue this autumn on board R/V Svea with a training course focusing on the use of Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP).
