GS-VMAS Mobility Support

The GS-VMAS Mobility Support aims to strengthen PhD students scientific development, internationalisation, and professional networks by enabling mobility beyond SLU. In addition to supporting participation in PhD courses at other universities, this initiative also includes funding for short research visits to other research laboratories.

GS-VMAS will each year award mobility support to approximate 10 PhD students from the VH-faculty.

What Can Be Funded?

Mobility support can be granted for participation in PhD courses at other universities, nationally or internationally, as well as for short research visits to other research laboratories.

Research visits may involve e.g., learning or applying new methods and techniques and gaining access to specific equipment or infrastructure. This collaborating with external research groups will hopefully also widen the PhD student’s scientific network. The visit must be approved by the main supervisor and be clearly motivated in relation to the PhD project and its contribution to the PhD student’s scientific development.

Please note that we do not give financial support to pure digital/online courses.

To apply for support send us an email (gs-vmas@slu.se) with the following information

  • Detailed description of the PhD course, include link to the course page if available or a description of the reseach group/enviroment to be visited
  • Motivation to why the course or the research visit is important for your postgraduate studies
  • Certificate from the main supervisor supporting the importance of the course/research visit for the applicant`s education
  • A budget clearly stating all costs (maximum 10 000 sek if withinn Sweden and 15 000 if outside of Sweden)

GS-VMAS will go through the different applications as they come in and get back to the applicant as soon as possible. The ones who receive funds are expected to provide GS-VMAS with a short report at the end of the course/reserach visit.
