The Scientific Council for Animal Welfare is a risk assessment body for animal welfare. The council identifies, compiles and evaluates scientific research on animal welfare and related issues, such as production economics and the working environment. The focus is on issues of particular relevance to animal welfare in Swedish animal husbandry. The Council shall provide decision-makers with a scientifically sound basis for various types of policy decisions and regulatory amendments. The Scientific Council thus produce documentation and write opinions on animal welfare-specific issues. The opinions produced by the Council shall compile the current state of knowledge.
