About us

The Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua) study the dynamics of aquatic ecosystems and how they are affected by environment and human activity. We monitor and assess seas, coastal waters, lakes and watercourses, conduct research with a focus on fish and shellfish and support society with expert advice.  Our knowledge contributes to a more sustainable use and management of our aquatic resources.

The Institute of Marine Research

The Institute of Marine Research is beautifully located by the sea in Lysekil. Our environmental assessment analysts, environmental assessment assistants, and researchers develop knowledge on how the ocean's resources can be utilised in a long-term sustainable way, and we provide advice to both Swedish and international authorities and organisations.

We conduct environmental analysis, provide consultancy, and carry out research on Sweden's lakes and watercourses, developing materials for authorities to support the sustainable management of aquatic environments and fish stocks.
