Doctoral studies (PhD)
The department has a strong tradition of research education within the broad area of animal science with subjects like veterinary medicine, animal nutrition, management and environment, ethology, animal Welfare and ethics, production diseases and economy, meat science.
Postgraduate studies
A four-year doctoral program leads to a doctoral degree (PhD). The goal of the program is to provide doctoral students with the skills and knowledge required to become independent researchers.
Research schools
To improve the quality of graduate education, the department participates in various research schools in collaboration with other SLU departments. This fosters collaboration and provides additional resources and perspectives for research.
Doctoral Courses
The doctoral program consists primarily of independent research and thesis writing, but also includes some doctoral courses.
Ph.D. positions
Postgraduate studies normally result in a doctoral degree (PhD) or licentiate degree. We have no permanent positions for PhD students, because most of our postgraduate education is funded externally and is project-based.
