About us
The department has around 100 employees from about ten different countries. We are part of SLU's Faculty of Forest Sciences. Our base is in Umeå but we conduct activities all over Sweden and abroad.
The department's overall responsibility is to conduct research, education and ongoing environmental analysis. We are also responsible for collaboration in the field of wildlife ecology.
Our research is divided into four subject areas: restoration ecology, aquatic ecology, molecular ecology and animal ecology.
The department offers the Master's programme Conservation and Management of Fish and Wildlife and also has stand-alone courses. Lectures are given by world-leading researchers and attract both Swedish and foreign students.
Our environmental analyses include environmental monitoring of small rodents.
