Infrastructure

We have all the equipment necessary for interesting and relevant studies: modern labs, newly built climate chambers, greenhouses – and 40 beehives! The Grimsö Research Station offers a research area spanning 13,000 square metres of mainly forest. One of our specialties is agricultural long-term experiments.

Infrastructure for honey bees

We maintain beekeeping infrastructure at the heart of SLUs Ultuna campus and keep approximately 40 honeybee colonies

SLU Agricultural Long-Term Experiments

SLU Agricultural Long-Term Experiments are used to study how crops, crop rotation and cropping practices affect crop production, crop quality and environmental factors in the long term.

The Molecular Laboratory

Molecular methods are a prerequisite for many research studies. Therefore, we have a modern molecular laboratory at the Ecology Centre, primarily for researchers at SLU but also available to external users.

Genetic laboratory

One of our fields of expertise is genetic analysis of low-quality samples, such droppings, urine, saliva.

Plant Cultivation Facility

This state-of-the art plant rearing facility offers climate controlled environments for the cultivation of plants and other organisms

The insect collection

The collections are the result of av 100 years of entomological research. Saproxylic beetles such as longhorn beetles, jewel beetles and spruce bark beetles are well represented, as are species linked to agriculture.

The Ecology Library

The Ecology Library is primarily a library for staff and students at the Department of Ecology at SLU.
