Applied Analysis
We work with applied analysis of food, agriculture, fishing and rural development. The group works closely with Lund University and together they form the research centre AgriFood Economics Centre.

Agricultural and Food Economics
Our research engages in interdisciplinary approaches to encompass the complexity and combine theoretical insights from the agricultural and food economics discipline with insights from other sciences, in particular the natural and behavioural sciences.

Decision-making and Managerial Behaviour
Every day, many decisions are made which affect the development of the agricultural sector and the rest of society. We are interested in how these decisions are made and what consequences they may have.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Sustainability
The research group's overall goal is to develop an understanding of the interaction between entrepreneurial activities and the contexts in which they take place.

Environmental Economics
Our main areas of research are policy design and evaluation, behavioral economics, transportation economics, trade and development economics, always in connection with environmental issues.
Our research projects
-
Enabling management control under farm-level carbon targets: action research and advisors’ role (StyrKA)
Swedish farmers face increasing societal expectations to contribute to climate change mitigation and need to find economically viable ways to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. -
Economics, policy and food systems transformation
The Bommarco lab explores how diversified farming affects farm economy, how it can be developed and promoted in food value chains and food systems. We explore how biodiversity and ecosystem services, especially pollinators and pollination, are discussed and integrated in policy. -
Good animal welfare: gains for animals, farmers and society
Can good animal husbandry and high levels of animal welfare be profitable, and for whom? The aim of this project is to assess costs and benefits associated with good animal welfare within beef production, both at farm and societal level. -
The economic potential of agroecological farming practices
Climate change increasingly threatens agricultural production and global and local food security. Europe has experienced severe weather events in recent years that have disrupted agricultural production and caused large economic and environmental damage.
