A site is a growing location with uniform characteristics in terms of climate, soil, and so‑called biotic factors (primarily the characteristics of the organisms present within the site).
In addition to climate, the properties of the growing site and the soil are largely influenced by geology (including bedrock), hydrology (including soil moisture and moving soil water), land use (land-use category), and the characteristics of the vegetation.
