Metadata
Information on licences and how to cite data is available on the SITES website: How to acknowledge SITES data.
- Geographical information for each individual den is not provided in the data so as not to disturb the fox population in the monitored area. Contact Grimsö Wildlife Research Station for more information.
- The number of dens surveyed was lower in the first years and increased over time due to better local knowledge.
Data from a monitoring programme of red fox (Vulpes vulpes) reproduction in the area around SLU Grimsö Wildlife Research Station. Each year, during weeks 22–26, all known dens in the vicinity of the station are visited and several indicators are examined at each den to determine whether it is used for reproduction during the year.
The number of dens visited varies from year to year due to forestry activities but has been between 150 and 230 since the mid-1970s.
Evidence of use by badgers (Meles meles) is also noted but is not included in this dataset.
