SLU Centre for Pesticides in the Environment (CKB)

Updated: October 2025

CKB is a national competence centre for building knowledge about how the use of chemical pesticides affects the environment. The focus is mainly on fate and effects in the environment of pesticides used within agriculture.

CKB's Work

The activities aim to develop and convey knowledge, both so that the effects on the environment can be described and predicted reliably, and so that measures can be taken to ensure that the impact of chemical pesticides on the environment remains within acceptable limits.

CKB maintains a good dialogue with the representatives in the reference group and other key stakeholders active in the field. Each year we allocate time to provide expert support to various stakeholders in society by participating in reference groups, responding to referrals and questions, and conducting brief investigations of current issues.

The work on knowledge building and long-term competence development is divided into a number of different operational areas, which together form a whole. The leaders of the operational areas hold regular meetings where the work is presented and collaborative projects are discussed.
