SLU Centre for Biological Control

We contribute to the development of new knowledge concerning the use of living organisms to control pests and diseases.

  • The centre is virtual with researchers located at different SLU departments in Uppsala and Alnarp.
  • A close cooperation with stakeholders, such as growers, industry, authorities and organisations is an important part of our activities.
  • Contact us if you have questions about our business or would like to discuss research collaborations, orders or inquiries.

For students

What is biological control?

Biological control is a method of restricting effects of harmful animals, pathogens and plants using other useful organisms, e.g. microorganisms, insects and plants.

When is it biological control?

SLU researchers present an updated terminology and conceptual platform for biological control. This is needed to understand, optimize and legislate biological control methods.
