Farmvisit: Källingby gård

Källingby gård is run by farmer Håkan Carlborg, and produces beef from sucker cows, cereals and legumes. The farm also has a mill where he produces flour from his own grain and from grain supplied by local farmers.

Håkan Carlborg is constantly working to improve the holistic approach and resilience of his production. The farm, which is entirely organic, primarily keeps suckler cows and beef cattle on semi-natural pastures but also produces feed as well as heretage varieties of cereals and legumes for human consumption. The farm was taken over from his parents in 1999, and even then, there was an interest in reducing energy consumption, although at the time it was mostly about economics. Håkan is still trying to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, focusing on using as much fossil-free fuel as possible in production and working extensively with smaller machinery.

Other aspects of his holistic approach include promoting biodiversity, maintaining a natural environment around the fields, keeping a moderate number of animals, and prioritizing the use of grains and other crops for human consumption. In recent years, Håkan has invested in a mill where he produces flour.
