Artemia laboratory

Artemia (brine shrimp) is an efficient model organism with several key advantages over traditional experimental animals. Its biological and practical characteristics make it highly suitable for high-throughput studies in nutrition, toxicology, microbiology, and molecular biology.

Feed technology laboratory

SLU Feed Technology Laboratory (FTL) is a specialised laboratory at SLU focused on feed technology and small-scale feed production. Our core activities include extrusion and the development of experimental feed blends for fish and companion animals. We offer tailored, high-quality solutions to support both research and product development in the pet food and aquaculture sectors.

Aquatic Facility

The Aquatic Facility focuses on the biological evaluation of novel feed ingredients for freshwater fish. Our research explores how different feed components affect fish growth, health, nutrient utilization, and physiological responses.

Analysis Laboratory

We offer advanced analyses covering the entire production chain – from raw ingredients and feed to animal response and final product quality.

Analysis Laboratory Umeå

Part of the Department of Applied Animal Science and Welfare's analytical operations is located at SLU campus Umeå. The laboratory is and is equipped for advanced chemical and biological analysis.
