Ruminant livestock systems contribute substantially to global food security, however, they also pose challenges in terms of environmental sustainability. Improving the sustainability of ruminant production therefore requires integrated approaches that enhance resource efficiency, reduce emissions, and safeguard animal performance and product quality. Nutrition is an important key in this transition, influencing nitrogen utilization, greenhouse gas emissions, and the overall environmental footprint of dairy systems.
