Sedan 2021 arbetar jag som forskare vid Institutionen för husdjurens biovetenskaper (HBIO), SLU, inom ett universitets-industriellt samarbete finansierat av Intervacc AB (https://intervacc.se/forskning-utveckling/). Mitt huvudsakliga fokus ligger på att utveckla rekombinanta vacciner mot viktiga bakteriella sjukdomar hos häst (Streptococcus equi; Streptococcus zooepidemicus), gris (Streptococcus suis) och nöt (Staphylococcus aureus), samt tillhörande serologiska tester (ELISA) som kan skilja mellan infekterade och vaccinerade djur (DIVA). Även tidigare forskning kring nya antibiotika pågår i en begränsad omfattning.

Pågående projekt:
Utveckling av rekombinanta vacciner mot Streptococcus suis hos gris och Staphylococcus aureus hos nöt (Forskningsanslag från Intervacc).
Streptococcus equi och kvarka hos häst – vidare forskning kring Strangvac samt förbättrad diagnostik (Forskningsanslag från Intervacc).
Development of an improved and objective diagnostic tool for digital dermatitis in cattle. (Seydlitz MP Companies Foundation 2023–2025; Projektledare Anna Rosander, SLU).

Sporadisk föreläsare på olika kurser, vanligaste ämnesområden: nya och gamla antibiotika/antibiotikaresistens.
Tidigare forskning
Ett tidigare projekt:
SLU–Ultupharma-projektet (https://www.ultupharma.se/) “Nya antibiotika från naturen”, med målsättningen att utveckla metoder för att upptäcka nya antibiotika verksamma mot patogena (sjukdomsframkallande) bakterier som blivit resistenta mot nuvarande behandlingar. Projektet omfattade traditionell mikrobiologisk odling, nya tekniker för att odla tidigare svårodlade mikroorganismer, samt att stimulera mikrober till att producera fler bioaktiva substanser. Urval, isolering och karakterisering av nya potentiella antibiotika mot relevanta resistenta bakterier ingick (Biobo/Ultupharma 2015–2019; Projektledare Anders Broberg, SLU).
