Mattias Jonsson

Senior Lecturer and docent at Department of Ecology. I hold a research assignment at SLU Centre for Biological Control. I am associate and assistant head of department. My research focuses on biodiversity, biological control and other ecosystem functions in agrocosystems of Sweden, Europe and East Africa. Teaches mainly ecology and plant protection.

My research primarily focuses on invertebrate biodiversity and ecosystem functions in agroecosystems, with a special emphasis on biological pest control. I am interested in how biodiversity contributes to ecosystem functions, if biodiversity can provide resilience against global environmental change, and how we can manage multifunctional landscapes. I conduct research in Sweden, Europe and East Africa. I mostly do empirical research but also contribute to modelling and research synthesis.
