Koldioxidberäkningar är en central del av klimatpolitiken. För att säkerställa att den mänskliga påverkan på klimatsystemet inte når farliga nivåer, mäter och redovisar stater regelbundet sina källor och sänkor av växthusgaser. Sedan Parisavtalet undertecknades år 2015, är alla samhällssektorer inbegripna i denna beräkningspolitik. För att möjliggöra omställningen till klimatneutralitet, ombeds idag företag, städer, organisationer och enskilda individer att beräkna och minska sina klimatavtryck.
I min forskning utgår jag ifrån den dubbla betydelsen av begreppet 'carbon accountability' för att kritiskt granska de praktiska metoder som gör klimatfrågan mätbar i vetenskap, politik och våra vardagsliv; och för att förstå hur stater, företag och medborgare styrs och hålls ansvariga i omställningspolitiken.
Mitt arbete är placerat i en kritisk-konstruktivistisk forskningstradition och inspirerat av Michel Foucaults nominalistiska syn på politik. Jag är intresserad av hur klimatfrågan konstrueras som politiskt problem; hur klimatstyrning går till i praktiken; och vilka föreställningar, handlingsalternativ och subjektpositioner som tar form en allt varmare värld.
