Petter Sundqvist

I work as a Project Manager at Sida’s Helpdesk for Climate and Environment.

I am passionate about understanding the complex interactions between human and natural systems and particularly the social dimensions of climate change risks, impacts and resilience. Building on this interest, I have previously worked on the integration of climate risks in humanitarian and social protection systems, developing information products and tools to guide decision-makers at different levels. In my research, I have also explored themes such as urbanization, community-led conservation and environmental consequences of conflicts (particularly in Ukraine).

Geographically, my work has mainly focused on Sub-Saharan Africa and Ukraine, where I have used diverse approaches to answering research questions, including complex household surveys, field experiments, semi-structured interviews, remote sensing and GIS. My work has involved field data collection in Malawi, Ukraine, Tanzania and Uganda.

I have a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Gothenburg and a master’s degree in Human Geography, with specialization in Geographical Information Systems, from Umeå University.
