Ancient Soil / Future Food

What can we grow in the future? What can we eat in a world shaped by climate change? And how do we find out? Explore these questions in an exhibition about place, production, and the world that awaits.

Ancient soil / Future food

What can we grow in the future? What can we eat in a world shaped by climate change? And how do we find out?

Ancient soil

It always begins with the soil. It is where life grows— the life that will become food for us and for our animals. Therefore, we must know the soil, and know how to cultivate it sustainably

Future food

In an uncertain world with an uncertain climate, what we can grow and eat becomes equally uncertain.

This is where it happens

The vast majority of SLU’s long-term agricultural experiments are managed by four field research stations: Lanna, Lönnstorp, Lövsta, and Röbäcksdalen.

Visit the exhibition at Ultuna

Through photographs, models, popular science texts, the exhibition showcases both SLU’s long-term agricultural experiments and other research focused on the food of the future. The exhibition is produced by the SLU University Library in collaboration with SLU Future Food and the researchers of SLU and runs from 9 to 27 November 2026. During 2027, it will be possible to visit the exhibition on SLU's other campuses.
