During the 20th century forest was primarily a landscape of production outside the city, but a distinct change is taking place. Urban populations are growing, the footprints of the cities are expanding, and the distinction between city and landscape has become blurred.
SLU Urban Futures welcomes you to the public lecture ‘The Urban Life of Trees’, where Stefan Darlan Boris will unfold this urban transformation and present the ongoing development of the Aarhus Landscape Laboratory on Eskelund, a 30 ha site in the Aarhus River Valley, inspired by the Landscape Laboratory in Alnarp.
Stefan Darlan Boris is an associate professor PhD in landscape architecture at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. In his research he is exploring the relationship between city and landscape with a strong focus on urban nature, biodiversity, bodily engagement and beauty.
