Mukhopadhyay Ritwika

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Division of Forest Remote Senisng, Department of Forest Resource Management. My work mainly focuses on modeling of vegetation attributes in the boreal forest and alpine treeline ecosystem, such as cover, aboveground biomass (AGB), volume and diameter. These variables are estimated at plot, stand, and individual tree level using different sources of 3D remote sensing (RS) data, e.g. (airborne and terrestrial) laser scanning data and space-borne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. The works also focus on accounting for the uncertainties in the estimation of the vegetation variables within different statistical frameworks.

I am also an external associat at the Arctic Centre, Umeå University.

Modelling shrub vegetation by combining various remote sensing data obtained from satellite, aircraft, drones, and proximal sensors to predict shrub vegetation cover under the overstorey forest canopy.
