- Methodologies to assess welfare in the animal’s home environment, during transport and at slaughter.
- Optimizing early environments in order to promote the development of behavioural, physiological and cognitive competences
- Cognitive abilities and affective states of animals, including promoting positive emotions and positive welfare in animals.
- Experiences and expectations of animal welfare inspection and control.
- Synergies and conflicts between animal welfare and sustainable development.
We work with all categories of animals during all phases of their life. We are members of national and international research consortia and networks, have editorial roles in scientific journals and are members of national and international advisory boards. Our competence is mainly within the natural sciences, but we collaborate with researchers in the environmental sciences, ethics and humanities to take holistic approaches to the subject of animal welfare. Our overall aim is to advance the scientific study of animal welfare and facilitate its implementation in practice.
