The Hernquist Collection is a unique collection of approximately 4000 volumes, many dating back to the late 18th century. The titles of the book collection can be searched in the web catalogue called "Grållan".

Peter Hernquist (1726-1808) was the founder of Sweden’s first veterinary school in 1775. The school was located to Skara, and a part of the extensive book collection of Hernquist is still available for those interested in veterinary history and agricultural science.

The collection also includes about 30 000 pages of handwritten manuscripts.

The Hernquist Collection is kept at the Veterinary Museum in Skara and can be shown by arrangement. Contact vetmus@slu.se.
